These Aluminum Signs are over eighty feet long and are located on the back wall of McKale Stadium, the home of University of Arizona Men’s Basketball. Fabricated by Graphic Impact, Tucson, AZ, the white, baked enamel sign is digitally printed in red. Each year annual achievements are added to the aluminum sign with white vinyl letters. A cost effective solution so that new signs do not have to be fabricated each year.
We recommend that aluminum used outdoors have a clear coat or film laminate. There is no question that a laminate protects graphics. Recent research into sign durability has found that most damage for a sign occurs with successive wet-dry cycles. A sign in the hot sun of a dry desert such as Tucson may last longer than a sign exposed to daily rain / sunlight cycles.
A clear coat also provides protection against abrasion and vandalism.
For these reasons, we provide clear coat on most traffic signs.
