Difference between laminated wood plaques and natural wood plaques
A laminated wood plaque differs from a natural wooden plaque. A natural wood plaque is a natural (real wood) product available in maple, oak, mahogany, alder and other materials. They are usually engraved, routed or sandblasted. Letters and logos are then left natural or sometime made darker with a stain or coloring.
Laminated wood plaques have a pressed wood core (MDF) which is then covered with a thin piece of veneer to give the laminated plaque a very high end finish while keeping the price extremely low. The challenge is to make sure that the laminated plaque look is almost indistinguishable from a natural wood plaque. The plaque is normally finished by routing. vinyl lettering or a high-powered laser.
When routed or lasered the press board usually shown through as a blackened ‘burnt out area’. This area can also be painted a contrasting color. Graphic Impact has the ability to print a full color image or photograph onto the plaque for a truly sophisticated and unique look. A lasered plate in a variety of colors can also be added.
A large variety of size and shapes
A number of different sizes or shapes are available. Standard sizes include 6×8, 7×9, 8×10 and 9×12 This is a great product to consider when a high number of wall plaques are required, and cost is a major consideration.
