Vinyl banners are made of two products—polyester mesh (scrim) and vinyl. The polyester mesh provides added strength. The linear mass density of the mesh fibers is measured in units called deniers. A high denier count for the mesh generally means a smoother scrim vinyl. Typically banner mesh is between 150 and 1,000 deniers. Although it could be implied that that a 1,000 denier mesh is stronger than a 500, it’s not necessarily so. Our standard banner is 13 ounce. Suitable for almost any exterior or interior application.
Grommets are normally used for finishing banners. Black, brass and white grommets are available. For hems, we use a banner welding machine. We have learned that double sided tape just does not hold up in hot exterior environments.
Latex, digital printing inks are the preferred method. These inks are the most durable, capable of the highest resolution and most vivid colors. An added feature is that these inks are also friendly to the environment.
